Informatica, a leader in AI-powered cloud data management, is bringing many of their leading technologies to Snowflake to help common customers speed delivery of enterprise-caliber AI projects and meet growing data governance needs.

The Informatica-Snowflake partnership aims to streamline data integration, improve security, and accelerate AI application development for users of the Snowflake platform, which includes Snowflake AI Data Cloud and Snowflake Cortex AI environment for building Generative AI apps.

According to company execs, the Informatica-Snowflake partnership aims to let organizations

(1) develop Generative AI applications,
(2) more easily streamline data integrations.
(3) provide centralized, policy-based access management,
(4) simplify data governance for enterprise-wide data assets; and
(5) provide better control over data usage within the Snowflake environment

Under the Informatica-Snowflake integration, shared customers using Snowflake AI Data Cloud customers can create seamless integrations and high-speed data replication. Further, data engineers will be able to incorporate AI functions into their ETL/ELT pipelines using a simple and familiar low-code interface, officials said.

"These new offerings will help our customers access and manage data in Snowflake more efficiently while utilizing new AI capabilities, SVP Product Development Pratik Parekh said.

“Informatica’s ongoing partnership with Snowflake is strengthened through the early adoption of Cortex AI for Generative AI Applications, as well as the launch of EDI and CDAM for Snowflake,” added Prasanna Krishnan, Snowflake’s Head of Collaboration and Horizon. “Our mission to enable customers to bring AI and apps to the data is strengthened by our partner ecosystem.

Inside the Informatica-Snowflake AI Partnership Technologies

Three Informatica technologies are at the heart of its Snowflake partnership for AI:

Native SQL ELT for Cortex AI Functions: With Informatica’s Native SQL ELT support for Snowflake Cortex AI Functions, businesses will be able to incorporate AI directly into their data pipelines. Notably, data engineers can leverage Snowflake's machine learning capabilities within Informatica's data integration workflows, cutting time and complexity preparing data for AI applications.  Moreover, the Informatica Native SQL ELT for Cortex AI Functions leverages Snowflake's ability to execute machine learning models directly within the database.

[Earlier this year, Informatica also released Native SQL ELT for Snowflake which allows user of the Snowflake Data Cloud to develop ELT pipelines guaranteed to run on Snowflake compute. With a simple and intuitive interface, Native SQL ELT supports 250+ Snowflake specific functions directly from Informatica’s Intelligent Data Management Cloud™ (IDMC) platform. Native SQL ELT is now generally available.]

Enterprise Data Integrator (EDI): EDI is a specially-designed Snowflake native apps that simplifies data discovery and loading. It utilizes Snowflake's Streamlit-based user interface and Snowpipe Streaming for efficient data ingestion. EDI is available for a 30-day free trial, allowing users to evaluate its capabilities before purchase.

Cloud Data Access Management (CDAM):  CDAM centralizes data governance and access control. CDAM integrates data access management with classification, discovery, and cataloging tools, using metadata to automate processes. Its policy authoring interface simplifies enterprise-wide data access management, potentially improving both security and compliance efforts.
Architecture & Benefits of Snowflake AI Data Cloud

All these Informatica technologies are optimized to run with Snowflake AI Data Cloud’s multi-function architecture, which already provides a robust environment for AI to let organizations

(1) store and analyze vast amounts of structured and semi-structured data,
(2) run complex queries at scale,
(3) supports real-time data sharing and secure data collaboration and
(4) even leverage AI tools and machine learning models directly within the Snowflake AI Data Cloud platform thanks to native integrations with popular AI and machine learning tools.

Use Case: Enhancing Customer Experience, Leveraging Model

To illustrate the potential of these new tools, consider a large retail chain aiming to improve its customer experience through personalized recommendations and targeted marketing.  Using Informatica's Native SQL ELT with Snowflake's Cortex AI Functions, a retailer could:

Integrate customer data from various sources (e.g., in-store purchases, online interactions, social media) into Snowflake's data cloud.

Use Cortex AI Functions to analyze this data, identifying patterns in customer behavior and preferences.

Generate personalized product recommendations in real-time, improving the relevance of marketing efforts and potentially increasing sales.

Further, Informatica’s EDI ensures that new data sources can be quickly incorporated into this process, while Informatica’s CDAM will maintain strict control over who can access sensitive customer information, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Moreover, the Informatica Native SQL ELT for Cortex AI Functions leverages Snowflake's ability to execute machine learning models directly within the database.

“We are excited to continue strengthening our ongoing collaborative relationship with Snowflake,” Informatica’s Parekh added. “This year, we're continuing the momentum by unveiling our latest innovations, aimed at making it easier than ever for customers to access fast, secure and reliable data in Snowflake and leveraging the new Cortex AI features.”

“Informatica’s ongoing partnership with Snowflake is strengthened through the early adoption of Cortex AI for Generative AI Applications, as well as the launch of EDI and CDAM for Snowflake,” said Snowflake’s Krishnan. “Our mission to enable customers to bring AI and apps to the data is strengthened by our partner ecosystem. Snowflake’s partnership with Informatica enables customers to bring advanced data processing capabilities to their data in the AI Data Cloud.”

The Informatica-Snowflake partnership and technologies debuted at the Snowflake Data Cloud Summit in early June.
